In this video we look at where to buy your groceries and we list the top 5 supermarkets, as well as looking at Chinese supermarkets in the UK.

Let’s start with the mid-range supermarkets.

5 Tesco

Tesco is Britain’s largest supermarket chain.

Tesco is of average price and selection, but Tesco stores are everywhere.

There are three types of Tesco stores:

1: Tesco
Their regular supermarkets. These sell a wide range of foods and groceries. Look for the ‘world foods’ aisle and you will find some Chinese goods, such as noodles, rice and some Chinese sauces.

2: Tesco Extra
These are Tesco’s larger stores and they sell just about everything including food, groceries, clothes, electrical items and more.

These are Tesco’s smaller convenience stores and there are lots of them to be found. They are usually in town and city centres and on housing estates. They sell a minimal range of basic foods and tend to cost a little more.

To find your local Tesco store simply Google ‘Tesco’. Local search results will show you all stores nearby.

4: Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s follows a similar format to Tesco, but the brand is often regarded as higher quality.

It’s a good quality, mid-priced supermarket chain, with a number of smaller local convenience stores. Sainsbury’s Local are of course smaller and more. Expensive.

The larger stores will have a world food aisle featuring Chinese goods.

3: Asda and Morrison’s

Both Asda and Morrison’s are mid-range supermarkets.

Asda stores tend to be large and sell most things, including electronics. Asda also has a local brand called Asda Local.

Morrison’s sells itself as a trusted brand for quality meat and vegetables. It’s range of produce is good quality, but not particularly value for money.

You will find premium foods, artisan baked goods and premium wines.

As with all supermarkets, simply Google the brand name and your location to find your nearest stores.

1: Aldi and Lidl

Aldi and Lidl are budget supermarkets. However, quality is not necessarily compromised with either brands.

Both are huge global German-owned chains. You will pay a lot less for own-brand goods. The produce is good quality, but you will not have the choice you have at other supermarkets.

Although the two supermarkets are very similar, Lidl supermarkets benefit from an in-store bakery, providing fresh breads and cakes.

Most UK towns have at least one Chinese supermarket, or a wholesale supplier for local Chinese restaurants.

You’ll find genuine Chinese goods, like Lau Gan Ma, sauces, noodles, rice, dumplings and Chinese vegetables.
